The SmartBart is a ballast dummy that can be filled with water or other materials (e.g. sand) to simulate different weights and/or masses of one person in a test situation.
The SmartBart is a further development of the StarBart. Many of our customers have requested a StarBart with arms (but without hands), so we developed the SmartBart with additional flexible upper and lower arms.
NEW: SmartBart Junior
In co-operation with Renault we have developed a new junior dummy, who is 158mm shorter than the normal StarBart/SmartBart Dummy (please see PDF).
Great properties of the SmartBart are:

There are various possibilities of testing situations in which the SmartBart can be used.

In addition the SmartBart can be used for testing of various types of transportation, e.g. for tests of wheel chairs, chair lifts, boats, trucks, aircraft and elevators.
A great advantage of the SmartBarts is the modular design. The modular assembly of single parts provides an easy handling. All single parts can separately be filled with water (or other material) and transported. On-site assembly the single parts is easy and therefore transportation problems due to weight and/or size are eliminated.
Often ballast testing is done with sandbags. However, the filling of the sandbags takes considerably more time than filling the SmartBart with water. Due to the modular design the transportation of SmartBarts is much more comfortable and prevents damage to the back of the persons having to carry it. Of course the SmartBart is reusable and easy to store.

A SmartBart completely filled with water has a weight of 87-88 kg. However, other materials can be used for filling. Each single part ot the SmartBart has a fill and drainage hole through which the desired material can be filled in upto the required weight. The size of the SmartBart corresponds to that of a medium sized male person.
